EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) was founded by American engineer, Gary Craig, in the early 90’s, who trained in Thought Field Technique (TFT), then simplified the process to form EFT. This form of energy psychology is one of the most widely used where mental, emotional and physical issues can be cleared by tapping on specific energy meridian points on the body.
It works under the principle that negative emotion is caused by a disruption in the body’s energy system. When we feel these emotions, one or more of our meridians becomes unbalanced or short circuits. Each tapping point in EFT relates to one of the body’s fourteen major meridian points, which in turn, correspond to different organs and areas of the body and emotional states.
By tapping on the meridian points and concentrating on the negative emotions, thoughts and even pain, which is short circuiting that meridian, we can encourage the meridian to flow freely once again. Resulting in a release of emotion and/or pain and a clear and more balanced meridian.
